TLBO based Non-Convex Economic Dispatch considering Cubic Cost Functions

Abstract

Economic Dispatch (ED) solution accuracy can be improved with Cubic Cost Models and optimization algorithms. This article proposes a new methodology for solving ED problem with Cubic Cost Models (EDCCM) using Teaching Learning Based Optimization (TLBO) algorithm. The effectiveness of the algorithm has been tested on 13 unit system involving cubic cost functions and considering valve point effects to solve the ED problems. The result of TLBO based EDCCM has been assessed and investigated through comparison with recent results reported in the literature. The outcome of the present work is to establish the TLBO as a promising alternative approach to solve the ED problems in practical power systems.
